Our Machine Quilting
Aleena Winward is the owner/operator of The Quilting Bee in Wellsville. She started a machine quilting business in her home in 2011. She uses her Gammill Vision 30-12 for hand driven machine quilting. She is a certified machine quilter with training from Village Dry Goods and Rocky Mountain Electric Quilters. She has enjoyed learning in classes she’s taken from many wonderful teachers at local quilt shops and local quilt guilds in Cache Valley. She enjoys free motion quilting overall patterns best.
Our Building and Family Businesses
Aleena and her husband Sam started building The Winward Building in 2018 and will complete it in 2019. In addition to the Quilting Bee in Wellsville, the building will house other family run businesses. Sam will operate his Financial Services Office out of the main level. The Winward kids and other local teenagers will run a small ice cream shop, The Wellsville Cone, out of a cubby on the main level where locals can come and enjoy famous Aggie Ice Cream and Creamies. The second story is the Legacy Loft Reception Center where people can rent space to hold wedding receptions, family parties, business meetings, recitals, or performances. The Winwards love living and working in Wellsville.
Our Community
Wellsville Utah is the first community founded in Cache Valley by the Mormon pioneers in 1856. It is about 20 minutes from Utah State University in Northern Utah. Wellsville has a population of about 3,600 people. They have harsher winters with lots of snow and cold temperatures, and enjoy practically perfect springs, summers and falls. Wellsville is at the base of the Wellsville Mountains, which are the steepest mountains in North America. At the Quilting Bee in Wellsville we carry “I love the Wellsvilles” or for the adventurous, “I hiked the Wellsvilles” t-shirts.
